Mango Chutney

The green mango chatini is a tasty side dish that Mauritians do not fail to prepare during the mango season in Mauritius.
  • 4 green mangoes
  • 2 onions
  • Fresh chilies
  • Salt
  • Pepper
Cooking time: 15 mn For 4 persons
  1. First wash and peel the mangoes.
  2. Then grate the mangoes and remove the juice.
  3. Add the salt and leave for about 3 minutes.
  4. In a frying pan, fry the mangoes for about 4 minutes.
  5. Cut the onions and chillies into rings.
  6. Then add them to the pan.
  7. Let it cook for about 5 minutes.
  8. Serve with white rice or rice with parsley, accompanied by a grain and salted fish rougaille or simply fried salted fish. You can also cook the salted fish with the mango chatini.
  9. Simply boil the salted fish, crumble it and fry it for about 3-4 minutes before adding it to the pan and let it cook with the mangoes.
