McDonald’s Tartar Sauce Recipe

Without a large serving of McDonald's tartar sauce, no fish sandwich is complete!

In truth, you can easily prepare tartar sauce at home using a few simple ingredients you most likely already have on hand.

Think again if you believe that only McDonald's has the ability to manufacture this amazing sauce.

After weeks of tinkering, I'm pleased to inform that I've finally created something that tastes and feels like the original.

This imitation tartar sauce for McDonald's offers a lovely blend of creamy, tangy, and sweet flavors.

I'm really enjoying it, and I'm sure you will as well!

What exactly is Tartar Sauce?

Tartar sauce (Sauce Tartare) is a French invention that is a creamy condiment with mayonnaise as the base. Capers, onions, and dill pickles contribute significantly to its flavor. As a result, it tastes creamy, slightly sweet, semi-savory, and tangy. This flavor goes very well with fish.

While it is acidic and tart, it gets its name from the Tatar tribe of the Eurasian Steppe.

Suggestions and Tricks

  1. If the sauce becomes too thick, add a teaspoon of cream or milk to soften it up.

  2. Dill relish, not sweet dill relish, should be used.

  3. To prevent the sauce from getting runny, drain the relish thoroughly before combining.

  4. To make cleanup easier, skip the blender and mash the relish and capers with a fork before whisking in the remaining ingredients.
